Website devoted to Standup Longboarding from one novice's view. With a Longboard, a Paddlestick, Helmet, and Go Pro, join the fun and learn about a great way to workout!
Had only a short amount of time to fish after work today. No problems, able to cruise along on the standup longboard, make it to the local pond, and catch a fish or two with the Micro Fly Rod!
Fun times... even got to practice casting the variant of the Perry Poke we like using with the 5wt we normally use!
Decided to give the Standup Longboard workout and Micro Flyrod Fishing another try Sunday afternoon. We really like the portability of the rod; when collapsed, easily fits in our shirt pocket. Even better, it does not interfere with the "paddling stroke" when standup longboarding.
Video snippet has a view of the run that has just the right amount of slope to cruise down in one direction with ease, while allowing for a reasonable "paddle" back "upstream" to the starting point. It's a workout but not enough to cause yours truly to step off the longboard and walk!
Do check out the video and for more on the making your own Micro Flyrod see our article at COAF Micro Flyrod.
Having another great time and quick workout in with the Standup Longboard. Rain came soon after, so had to cut it short. Regardless, was fun... even gave Charlie the #maltesepuppy a workout, too!
Lots of rain in the area put a delay in the Standup Longboarding evening workouts. But, this evening rain clouds stayed in the distance, and was able to get a quick workout at the Allen Water Station. Liking this area because it has a walking and biking trail that has gentle slopes that I can handle while still learning how to handle a longboard.
Plus, the parking area is near a warehouse complex, that has wide open spaces with more gentle slopes to allow practicing turns or in the lingo of longboarders... carving!
Really liking Standup Longboarding especially the workout it provides... here is a snippet of today's workout with some ukulele music in the background from your's truly.
Next step in my longboarding efforts... buy a paddlestick from Kahuna Creations! Liking standup lonboarding so much, decided to buy one that is adjustable in length and has a "tire tread" like pad (or maybe it's called a "blade")
That said, more of a chicken before the egg... question. I have the Kahuna Creations Paddlestick and really like it. But, I am still "borrowing" the longboard from a certain somebody who is not using it... may have to give it back sooner than later.
Eventually, will have to buy a longboard. Till then, having fun with the new paddlestick and the borrowed longboard!
First video where I try standup longboarding using an old kayak paddle! On a whim decided to try combining kayaking with longboarding.
Intent was to be able to workout and gain more endurance to prepare for upcoming kayak fishing trips to local lakes.
Had an old kayak paddle in the garage; dusted it off and added some padding and duct tape for traction. Then, grabbed a "certain somebody's" longboard and headed to the elementary school parking lot.
Worked well... later made a paddlestick using PVC. Worked well, too. Liking this Standup Longboarding!
